How long are ubc summer courses

Term 1 of Summer Session begins in early May and continues through June. Term 2 of Summer Session begins in early July and ends in late August. Many faculties offer distance education courses. Your exam schedule will be available midway through the term of study.

If you are making advance travel plans before the exam schedule is published, assume that you may be writing your last exam on the last possible date and time during the exam week. The Undergraduate Office will not grant concessions due to conflicting travel arrangements.

For summer registration, we decrease the year level of the course restrictions to allow students to register in summer courses for the year level they will be promoted to in May once they have successfully completed their Term 2 winter session courses. What should I do if I can't register in a course that I want? Keep checking enrolment and register yourself when a seat becomes available. There is often a lot of movement in courses at the start of term. The online registration assistance form will not be available for summer registration.

If you are graduating in November and need assistance to register in a required Commerce course, please contact the Undergraduate Office. Do grades in summer courses matter? While grades for summer courses are not included in the calculation of your winter session average for each year, a summer session average will be calculated and included on your academic transcript with the final grades for all of your summer courses.

Additionally, any senior-level Commerce courses or level will be included in the calculation of your graduating average to determine eligibility for Honours standing. Furthermore, if your future plans include additional studies, some graduate programs, depending on the institution, may consider all undergraduate grades as the basis of admission. I'm taking summer courses to finish requirements in my current year. Once your grades have been posted on the Student Service Centre, please contact the Undergraduate Office.

Am I eligible for a U-Pass if I'm taking summer courses? Eligibility for the U-Pass is determined by your continued registration. The short duration of summer courses offers some flexibility in your summer planning; however, it can be challenging to keep up: classes meet longer and more frequently, which means that lectures are faster-paced than in the winter, and you might learn up to a week's amount of material in a day.

Since you learn the content so quickly, the knowledge you gain in summer courses can be volatile you may have to review the notes again by the time you take higher level courses.

Maybe you can do full-time work in the summer to gain some work experience and earn money. Maybe it's a good time to travel the world.

The summer is yours, and you should not feel obligated to take summer courses just because other people do it. Note: There is a date to drop your summer course if you change your mind after enrolling - pay close attention to this date if you think you might drop your course!

Summer course registration opens in March depending on your student status. Make sure to register ASAP as spots fill up quickly.
